Jewelry Care & Cleaning Guidelines
Jewelry Care & Cleaning Guidelines
Proper care and attention will help preserve the beauty and longevity of your jewelry.
Please be aware that normal wear and tear is not considered a fault of the seller.
Jewelry and crystal items are delicate and should be handled with care. To maintain their appearance, protect them from exposure to chemicals (such as hairspray, perfume, nail polish remover, chlorine, detergents, and lotions), direct sunlight, and objects that may cause scratches or dents.
Jewelry that is plated or has special finishes may naturally age or wear over time. Stones and inclusions are particularly delicate and may chip if not carefully handled. Rings and pendants can break or bend if mishandled. The breaking of crystal stones due to mishandling is not considered a seller’s fault.
Sterling silver should be cleaned with a professional jewelry cleanser.
For plated, costume items, and delicate gemstones, use a soft cloth or a mild jewelry cleanser, ensuring it is appropriate for the material before use. Avoid using silver polish or strong metal cleaners on these items.
Important Note:
All sales are final, and no refunds or exchanges will be provided, as the items are subject to “Wear & Tear” conditions.
Conditions of Wear & Tear Jewelry Include:
• Gemstones that have accumulated dust and grease, dulling their natural shine.
• Gemstones exposed to chemicals or water, such as perfumes or washing liquids.
• Broken chains, clasps, metal settings, prongs, and other fasteners that may loosen with regular use.
• General wear and tear, including jewelry that has bent out of shape or tarnished (oxidized).
• Plating or oxidized finishes that have worn off. Over time, plating may fade slightly, revealing the base metal underneath.
(Plating refers to a metal coating that is bonded electronically or chemically to a base metal to achieve a different color or finish, such as gold plate.)
(Oxidizing is a chemical process often used to give metal a darker ‘antique’ or ‘vintage’ appearance. This finish may also wear or rub off over time.)
HOW TO CLEANSE YOUR CRYSTALS
Cleaning crystals is essential to maintain their beauty and energetic properties. The method you choose depends on the type of crystal and its sensitivity to various cleaning agents. Here's a general guide on how to clean crystals:
Water and Mild Soap
For most crystals, you can gently clean them with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Use a soft brush, like a toothbrush or a makeup brush, to scrub away dirt and debris. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals, strong detergents, or abrasive cleaners, as they can damage the surface of the crystals or affect their energy.
Remember, some crystals are sensitive to water, so always research the specific needs of each crystal before choosing a cleaning method.
Moonlight
Simply leave your crystals overnight outside under the moonlight, preferably a full moon. This is the safest method and suitable for all crystals.
Smudging
Another method to cleanse crystals is by using smoke from sage, palo santo, or other cleansing herbs. Pass the crystal through the smoke several times while setting your intention to cleanse and purify it.
Selenite/Clear Quartz
Selenite and clear quartz are self-cleansing crystals that can also cleanse other crystals. Place your crystals on or alongside a selenite or clear quartz overnight to refresh their energy.
Crystal Singing Bowl or Tuning Forks
Sound vibrations from a crystal singing bowl or tuning forks can cleanse crystals by disrupting any stagnant energy. Gently strike the bowl or tuning fork near the crystals.
It's a good practice to periodically cleanse and recharge your crystals, especially if you use them for energy work or meditation.
